# Create a story

> Schedule image and video stories for Instagram and Facebook.

Stories are full-screen images and videos that stay visible on the platform for 24 hours. You can create and schedule them for Instagram and Facebook, with up to 10 slides in one story post.

## Before you start

- Stories publish to Instagram and Facebook only. Connect at least one of them first, see [Instagram](/help-center/integrations/instagram) and [Facebook](/help-center/integrations/facebook).
- On Facebook, stories publish to the Facebook Page you connected.

## Create a story

1. Click **Create Post** in the sidebar.
2. Click the **Story** tab at the top left of the editor. Only Instagram and Facebook stay in the channel bar.
3. Click **Select Story**. In **Add media**, click the images or videos in the order they should play. They move into the **In this story** column. Click the button under the column, for example **Add 2 slides**. You can also drag files from your computer onto the story frame.
4. To add more slides, click **Add** under the frame.
5. Drag the slide thumbnails to put them in the right order.
6. Click **Schedule Story** to pick a date and time, or **Post now** to publish right away.

Each slide publishes as its own story on the platform, in the order you set. One story post holds up to 10 slides.

## Preview a story for each channel

Click the Instagram or Facebook icon in the channel bar to see the story the way it appears on that platform.

To use different slides on one channel, drop files onto that channel's story. To go back to the slides in the main story, click **Restore to default** and then **Are you sure?**.

You can upload videos as MP4, MOV or WebM. OmniSocials converts MOV and WebM videos to MP4 when you upload them.

Stories fill the screen in a 9:16 frame, so vertical images and videos work best.

## What to know about stories

- Stories have no caption. Add any text or graphics to the image or video before you upload it.
- Stories have no post options: the options bar under the editor, with the first comment and the other settings, doesn't show for stories.
- After 24 hours, a story is no longer visible on the platform.
- Scheduled stories appear on the calendar with a **Story** label. See [Content calendar](/help-center/creating-content/calendar).
