Scheduling lets you prepare posts ahead of time and have OmniSocials publish them at the moment you choose. This article explains the schedule dialog, time zones, per-channel times and how to change or cancel a scheduled post.

## Schedule a post

1. Create your post, story or reel in the editor. See [Create a post](/help-center/creating-content/create-post).
2. Click **Schedule Post** at the top right. For stories and reels the button reads **Schedule Story** or **Schedule Reel**.
3. Next to **On**, pick the date. Days that already have posts show dots, so you can spread your posts out.
4. Next to **At**, pick the hour and minute, and AM or PM if you use the 12-hour clock.
5. Check the channels under **Channels**.
6. Click **Schedule Post** at the bottom of the dialog.

To plan the post without publishing it, click **Save as draft** instead. The draft keeps the date and time you picked, shows on the calendar with a dashed outline and doesn't publish until you schedule it.

The dialog opens on the next quarter hour that's at least 5 minutes away. You can't pick a date in the past. If the time you picked has passed, the dialog says **This time has passed.** and offers a button to switch to the next quarter hour.

After you schedule the post, OmniSocials opens the calendar, where the post appears on its day.

## Use the best time to post

Under the date and time, **Best time to post** suggests a time slot. Click **Use** to apply it, or click the link next to it (for example **2 more**) to see other suggestions.

The suggestions come from your workspace's posting history. While that history is still short, they're based on industry averages, and the list of suggestions says so.

## Set the time zone

All times in OmniSocials use the time zone in your preferences, wherever you are.

1. Click your name at the bottom of the sidebar, then **Settings**.
2. Click **Preferences**.
3. Open **Time zone** and choose **Automatic** (your browser's time zone) or a fixed time zone.

The schedule dialog doesn't have its own time zone setting. Change the preference before you schedule a post for another time zone.

## Give channels their own time

1. In the schedule dialog, turn on **Different time per channel**.
2. Set a time for each channel that needs one. The other channels keep the post time.
3. Click **Schedule Post**.

Each channel with its own time becomes a separate post, linked to the others. On the calendar, linked posts show a link icon. To give every channel the post time again, click **Use the post time for all**.

## Send a post for approval

If your workspace uses approval workflows, choose one under **Approval workflow** in the schedule dialog. The button then reads **Ask for approval**, **Save as draft** goes away, and the post publishes after it's approved. See [Approval workflows](/help-center/engagement/approval-workflow).

## Schedule from the calendar

1. Right-click a day on the calendar.
2. Choose **Schedule Post**, **Schedule Story** or **Schedule Reel**.

The editor opens with that day filled in. You can't schedule on days in the past.

## Change a scheduled post

To edit the content, click the post on the calendar or under **Scheduled** on the Posts page. The editor shows when the post publishes, for example **Publishes Tue 13 Oct, 9:00 AM**, next to **Save changes**. Make your changes and click **Save changes**. The post keeps its date and time, and you stay in the editor.

To pick another time in the editor, click the publish time, or click the arrow on **Save changes** and choose **Change date and time**. The schedule dialog opens as **Reschedule Post**: pick the new date and time and click **Reschedule Post**.

To change only the date and time from the calendar:

1. On the calendar, hover over the post.
2. Click the calendar icon (**Reschedule post**).
3. Pick a new date and time.
4. Click **Reschedule**.

You can also drag a scheduled post to another day on the calendar. It keeps its time of day. You can drop it on today or a later day.

## Unschedule or delete a post

Open the post and click the arrow on **Save changes**:

- **Turn into draft**: the post becomes a draft that keeps its date. It shows on the calendar with a dashed outline and won't publish until you schedule it again.
- **Delete post**: in **Delete Scheduled Post**, click **Delete**. For a post that's linked to others, you can also delete the linked posts.
- **Post now**: publishes the post right away instead of at its time.

## Posting limit

A workspace can publish up to 5 posts within an hour. When a new post would go over that limit, OmniSocials tells you the nearest times you can use instead. A post that goes to several channels at the same time counts as one post.

## When a post fails

On the calendar, a post that couldn't publish shows **Failed**. A post that published to some channels and failed on others shows **Warning**.

1. Click the post to open its details. The error for each channel is listed there.
2. Fix the cause, for example reconnect a channel whose connection expired.
3. Click **Retry Failed Platforms**.

You can retry a channel up to 3 times.
