# Bluesky

> Connect your Bluesky account with your handle to publish posts and threads.

OmniSocials connects to Bluesky with your handle and Bluesky's own sign-in, so you never share a password with OmniSocials. Any Bluesky handle works, including custom domain handles and accounts on other servers.

## What you can publish

Links, mentions and hashtags in your text are clickable on Bluesky.

## Requirements

- A Bluesky account.
- The **Manage social channels** permission in your OmniSocials workspace.

Each workspace connects one Bluesky account.

## Connect Bluesky

1. Click the workspace name at the top of the sidebar, then click the channels button under the workspace. The **Channels** window opens.
2. Under **Add a channel**, click **Bluesky**.
3. In **Connect Bluesky**, enter your handle under **Bluesky handle**, for example username.bsky.social or yourbrand.com.
4. Click **Continue**.
5. Sign in to Bluesky and approve the access for OmniSocials.

You don't need an app password. Bluesky's sign-in window handles the access.

## Bluesky options in the editor

Click the Bluesky icon in the channel bar to see and edit the Bluesky version of your post.

- **Threads**: click **Add post below** in the toolbar to add a post to the thread. When your text is longer than 300 characters, click **Split into thread** to split it into several posts.
- **Alt text**: click **ALT** on an image to describe it. Bluesky shows the description to people who use screen readers.

## Limits

| Text | 300 characters per post. An emoji counts as one character. |
| Media in a post | Up to 10 images, or one video. Not both in the same post. 5 or more images show as a gallery. |
| Image files | JPEG, PNG or WebP, up to 10 MB |
| Video length | Up to 10 minutes |
| Video files | Up to 300 MB |

Bluesky accepts images of up to 2 MB, so OmniSocials compresses larger images before posting.

## Troubleshooting

**The handle isn't accepted.** Enter the full handle, for example username.bsky.social, not only the username. A custom domain handle like yourbrand.com works too.

**The channel shows under Needs attention with Expired and a date.** Click **Reconnect** and sign in to Bluesky again.

**A post is over the limit.** Shorten the text, or click **Split into thread** in the Bluesky version.
