OmniSocials publishes videos and photo posts to TikTok through TikTok's official API. This article covers what you can publish, how to connect your account and the TikTok settings you choose for every post.

## What you can publish

| Format | Details |
|---|---|
| Photo post | Up to 35 photos, with a title and a caption. Create it with the **Post** type. |
| Video | One video, created with the **Reel** type or the **Post** type. Duet, stitch and AI settings are only available with the **Reel** type. |

Comments on your TikTok videos can also come into your [Social Inbox](/help-center/engagement/social-inbox) once you enable comments, see below.

## Requirements

- A TikTok account.
- The **Manage social channels** permission in your OmniSocials workspace.

Each workspace connects one TikTok account.

## Connect TikTok

1. Click the workspace name at the top of the sidebar, then click the channels button under the workspace. The **Channels** window opens.
2. Under **Add a channel**, click **TikTok**.
3. Sign in to TikTok and allow OmniSocials access.

### Enable comments

Comments in the Social Inbox and the first comment need a second TikTok authorization.

1. In the Channels window, click **Enable comments** in the connected TikTok row.
2. Sign in to TikTok with the same account you connected for posting, and allow access.

The row then shows **Comments on**. If the row shows **Unlock analytics permissions**, click it once to allow the newer analytics permissions.

## TikTok options in the editor

Click the TikTok icon in the channel bar to see and edit the TikTok version of your post. For a photo post you can add a title and a caption. A video has only a caption.

TikTok's settings are post options. The bar under the editor has chips for who can view the post (for example **Public**), **Comments**, **Promotional content** and, once comments are enabled, **First comment**. Click the arrow at the end of the bar to see all of them on TikTok's page in the options panel. See [Set post options](/help-center/creating-content/create-post#set-post-options).

| Setting | For | What it does |
|---|---|---|
| **Who can view** | All posts | **Public**, **Friends**, **Followers** or **Private**. The choices depend on your TikTok account. Required. |
| **Allow comments** | All posts | Lets people comment |
| **Add music automatically** | Photo posts | Lets TikTok pick a soundtrack. Off by default. |
| **Allow duets** | Videos (Reel type) | Lets people make duets with your video |
| **Allow stitches** | Videos (Reel type) | Lets people stitch your video |
| **AI-generated content** | Videos (Reel type) | Marks the video as made with AI |
| **Promotional content** | All posts | Marks the post as promoting a brand, a product or a service. Then, under **This post promotes**, turn on **Your brand**, **Branded content** (another brand) or both. With **Branded content**, TikTok labels the post "Paid partnership", otherwise "Promotional content". |
| **First comment** | All posts | Posted after the post goes live. Shows once comments are enabled. The video must be public and allow comments. |

Under the settings, TikTok's posting declaration names the TikTok policies you agree to by posting. If comments, duets or stitches are turned off in your TikTok settings, those switches can't be turned on here.

TikTok doesn't accept a custom cover image. A TikTok video uses a frame from the video, which you choose under **Thumbnail** with **Select from video**.

## Limits

| | Limit |
|---|---|
| Caption | 2,200 characters for videos, 4,000 for photo posts |
| Photo post title | 90 characters |
| First comment | 150 characters |
| Photos | Up to 35 per post. Photos and video can't be mixed. |
| Image files | JPEG, PNG or WebP, up to 20 MB |
| Video length | Up to 10 minutes, or the lower limit TikTok sets for your account (3 or 5 minutes) |
| Video files | Up to 1 GB, the OmniSocials upload limit |

When you open the TikTok version of a reel, the editor shows the maximum video length for your account.

## Troubleshooting

**You can't schedule the post.** Choose who can view the post under **Who can view** in the TikTok options. If **Promotional content** is on, also turn on **Your brand**, **Branded content** or both.

**The TikTok version says Cannot Post Right Now.** Your account reached TikTok's posting limit. Try again later.

**Comments don't show up in the Social Inbox.** Click **Enable comments** in the TikTok row of the Channels window and authorize the same TikTok account. If the row says **Re-enable comments**, click it to renew the authorization.

**The video is too long.** TikTok sets the maximum length per account. Trim the video, or turn TikTok off for this post.
