Two well-made posts a week get the highest engagement per post in Hootsuite's 2026 benchmarks. Buffer advises 1 to 2 posts a day for a Page. Pick the pace you can keep, and watch the new monthly link limit.

## The short answer: 2 posts a week at least, up to 1 to 2 a day for a busy Page.

The sources measure different things. Hootsuite's 2026 benchmarks find engagement per post highest at 2 posts a week (2.08%), while retail, dining and tech Pages peak at 17 to 25 a week. Buffer's 2026 guide advises 1 to 2 posts a day for a Page, based on a HubSpot study. Facebook publishes no number.

One new rule changes the math for links: Facebook can limit a Page to links in 2 organic posts or comments a month, unless it pays for a Meta One Advanced, Expert or Max plan. Plan your link posts with that in mind.

- **Best per post**: 2 a week (2.08% engagement, Hootsuite 2026)
- **Busy Pages**: 1 to 2 a day (Buffer's advice for a Page)
- **Link posts**: 2 a month (On Pages with the link limit)

## Plan a week at your pace

- **Two a week**: 2 posts a week (Tue 7:00 PM post, Thu 10:00 AM reel). 2 posts a week had the highest engagement per post in Hootsuite's 2026 benchmarks.
- **Weekdays**: 5 posts a week (Mon 10:00 AM post, Tue 7:00 PM reel, Wed 9:00 AM photo, Thu 10:00 AM post, Fri 8:00 AM reel). About one post every weekday, in the morning and evening windows most studies name.
- **1 to 2 a day**: 10 posts a week (Mon 10:00 AM post, Mon 7:00 PM reel, Tue 10:00 AM photo, Tue 7:00 PM post, Wed 9:00 AM reel, Wed 7:00 PM post, Thu 10:00 AM post, Thu 7:00 PM reel, Fri 8:00 AM photo, Sun 8:00 AM post). Buffer's recommendation for a Page, citing a HubSpot study.

## How often to post on a Facebook Page. Each source measures something else.

| Source | Recommendation | Based on |
|---|---|---|
| Hootsuite, Apr 2026 | 2 posts a week | Highest engagement rate per post (2.08%) across industries |
| Buffer, Jan 2026 | 1 to 2 posts a day | A HubSpot study of 13,500+ Facebook users |
| Hootsuite, by industry | 17 to 25 a week for retail, dining and tech | Where those industries' engagement peaked |
| Facebook | No number published | Its scheduler takes posts 20 minutes to 29 days ahead |

## Where engagement peaked, by industry. Hootsuite's 2026 Facebook benchmarks.

| Industry | Highest engagement rate | At posts a week |
|---|---|---|
| All industries | 2.08% | 2 |
| Education | 2.97% | 2 |
| Nonprofit | 2.36% | 2 |
| Healthcare | 2.22% | 2 |
| Marketing agencies | 2.08% | 2 |
| Dining, hospitality and tourism | 1.58% | 17 |
| Retail | 1.54% | 18 |
| Technology | 1.67% | 25 |

Hootsuite, April 2026. The page does not state its sample or data period. Albums had the highest engagement rate of any post type (2.9%).

## The limits that shape a Facebook schedule. From Meta's own pages.

| Limit | Value | Source |
|---|---|---|
| Posts or comments with links | 2 a month on Pages with the limit; 8, 20 or unlimited with Meta One plans | Facebook Help Center |
| Reels published through the API | 30 per 24 hours | Meta Reels API |
| Facebook's own scheduler | 20 minutes to 29 days ahead | Facebook Help Center |

Links to Meta's own apps, extra links in a comment thread you already linked in, and links in ads do not count toward the monthly limit.

## What changed for posting on Facebook. Links and video.

- **2026: Monthly link limits for some Pages** Facebook can limit a Page to links in 2 organic posts or comments a month. Meta One Advanced ($49.99 a month), Expert and Max raise it to 8, 20 or unlimited. (https://www.facebook.com/help/1929252614431792)
- **Jun 2025: Every video is a reel** All new Facebook videos are shared as reels, of any length. There is no separate video format to plan for. (https://www.facebook.com/business/help/581040529926114)

## Post often without wasting posts. Quality first, then volume.

1. **Start at 2 strong posts a week** That pace had the highest engagement per post in Hootsuite's data. Add more once those two are working.
2. **Go daily if you have the content** Buffer advises 1 to 2 posts a day for a Page. Busy industries such as retail and dining peaked far higher.
3. **Ration your link posts** If your Page has the link limit, use the 2 monthly links on posts that matter, and share the rest as plain posts or reels.
4. **Use albums and reels** Albums had the highest engagement rate of any post type in Hootsuite's benchmarks, and every video now posts as a reel.
5. **Plan the week in one go** Facebook's scheduler reaches 29 days ahead. A scheduler lets you fill the week in one sitting and keep the pace.
6. **Watch engagement per post** If engagement per post drops as you post more, fewer and better posts may serve the Page better.

## Sources and method

Facebook publishes no posting frequency, so the page compares the two 2026 sources that give one: Buffer's guide, which cites a HubSpot study, and Hootsuite's benchmarks, which measure engagement per post. They measure different things, and the page says which is which. The link limit, the Reels API cap and the scheduling window come from Meta's own pages, read on October 17, 2026.
