### Can you schedule Mastodon posts?

Yes, with a scheduler. Most Mastodon apps post right away. OmniSocials schedules Mastodon posts, polls and threads on one calendar with your other channels and publishes them on your server at the time you pick, within your server’s limits.

### Which Mastodon servers work with OmniSocials?

Any Mastodon server. Type its address when you connect and sign in there. OmniSocials registers itself with your server for you, so there’s no app to set up. Each workspace connects one Mastodon account.

When you connect, OmniSocials reads your server’s character limit, what a link counts for and its poll limits, and the composer checks your posts against them.

### What can I post to Mastodon?

Text posts, posts with up to 4 images or one video, polls, and threads of 2 to 25 posts. The character limit follows your server, 500 by default. Every post goes out as public.

### Can I add image descriptions?

Yes. Every image and video carries its own description of up to 1,500 characters, which Mastodon shows to people using a screen reader and behind the ALT badge.

### How do polls work on Mastodon?

Write the question as the post text, add the answers and pick how long the poll runs, from 5 minutes to 30 days within your server’s range. A poll takes 2 to 4 answers by default, or as many as your server allows. You can allow several answers per person and hide the totals until the poll ends. A poll takes the place of images or video.

### How do Mastodon threads work?

Write past your server’s limit and click Split into thread. OmniSocials cuts the text at the end of sentences into posts that each fit. You can edit, move and add posts, and give each one its own images. A thread has 2 to 25 posts and goes out as one chain of replies.

### Does OmniSocials publish to Mastodon automatically?

Yes. Every Mastodon post goes out on its own at the time you pick, with no reminder to act on. A video finishes processing on your server before the post is sent. If a post fails on a temporary error, OmniSocials retries it up to 3 times, 15 minutes apart.

An automation can also repost what you publish on Mastodon to your other channels, or repost your posts from another channel to Mastodon. When a caption is too long for your server, you pick once: post it as a thread, cut it at your server’s limit, or skip the post.

### Which Mastodon analytics do I get?

Per post: likes, replies, reposts and poll results, plus quotes on servers running Mastodon 4.5 or later. For the account: followers, following and posts. Mastodon doesn’t report impressions or reach.

### Can I answer Mastodon replies in OmniSocials?

No. The Social Inbox doesn’t cover Mastodon, so replies stay in your Mastodon app.

### Can ChatGPT or Claude post to Mastodon for me?

Yes. Connect the OmniSocials MCP server to Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor or any other MCP client and ask in plain words: it writes, schedules and checks your Mastodon posts and threads, with a description on every image. With an approval workflow, nothing goes out before someone approves it.

Posts, polls, images, video and threads are also in the REST API and the official SDKs, and posts and threads in the CLI. Polls are made in the composer or through the API, not through the MCP server.

Webhooks tell your app when a post is scheduled, approved, rejected, published or failed.
