Mastodon

Connect your Mastodon account to schedule and publish posts (toots).

Before You Start

You'll need:

  • A Mastodon account on any instance
  • Your instance URL (like mastodon.social)

Connecting Mastodon

  1. Go to Settings > Workspace (or use onboarding)
  2. Click Connect Mastodon
  3. Enter your instance URL (e.g., mastodon.social)
  4. Sign in to your account
  5. Authorize OmniSocials
  6. Done!

What You Can Do

Posting

  • Text posts (toots)
  • Image posts (up to 4 images)
  • Video posts
  • Schedule everything in advance

Post Specs

Text

  • Usually 500 characters (but this varies by instance)

Images

  • Up to 4 per post
  • JPG, PNG, or GIF

Videos

  • Length varies by instance
  • MP4 or WebM

Note: Different Mastodon instances have different limits. Check your instance's rules!

Best Practices

  • Check your instance's specific limits
  • Use content warnings when appropriate
  • Use hashtags for discoverability (they're important on Mastodon!)
  • Engage with the federated community
  • Be mindful of your instance's rules

Troubleshooting

Can't connect?

  • Double-check your instance URL is correct
  • Make sure your instance allows third-party apps
  • Try the full URL including https://

Posts not publishing?

  • Verify you're within your instance's limits
  • Check your media meets the specs
  • Make sure the instance is online
