Why people are leaving Later

X support ended. Later stopped new X (Twitter) connections on July 30, 2025 and ended X support on August 28, 2025. If X is part of your mix, Later now needs a second tool next to it.

Posts are capped per profile. Starter allows 30 posts per social profile a month and Growth 180. Later counts a post when you schedule it, not when it publishes. Only Scale, at $82.50 a month billed yearly, has no cap.

You pay per social set. A social set is one profile on each of Later's 8 networks. Starter holds one set and one user and takes no add-ons, so a second brand or a teammate means Growth. Past that, each extra set costs $11.25 and each extra user $3.75 a month, billed yearly.

The inbox and approvals start on Growth. The social inbox, approvals and Shop tagging need Growth ($37.50 a month billed yearly) or higher, and the inbox covers DMs on Instagram and Facebook only. Competitor benchmarking needs Scale.

Later's focus moved to influencer marketing. Later bought the affiliate platform Mavely in January 2025, and its February 2026 rebrand calls Later an influencer marketing company, with scheduling "a fraction of what we actually do".

What Later still does better

  • A visual Instagram grid planner on every plan, to see your feed before it goes live.
  • Linkin.bio, Later's link in bio page, with Mavely affiliate links.
  • Snapchat scheduling (Spotlight and public Stories), which OmniSocials does not offer.
  • Influencer and creator tools (Later Influence, Mavely) and a UGC search.
  • A native mobile app and a Canva integration.

If those are the core of your workflow, Later is the better fit. OmniSocials has no grid view, no link in bio page and no native app yet.

Later vs OmniSocials pricing

Both prices below are billed yearly and were checked on October 17, 2026. OmniSocials charges per seat: each brand (one workspace) and each teammate is a seat. Later charges per plan, with add-ons on top. OmniSocials costs less for one brand and for small teams. For an agency with 6 brands and 4 people, Later's Scale plan costs less, because it includes 6 social sets and 4 users.

What you get with OmniSocials

One calendar, filled by you or your AI agent

Plan in a week or month view, keep drafts in the tray and preview each post the way each platform shows it. Connect Claude, ChatGPT or another agent through the MCP server, and the posts it schedules land on the same calendar for you to check. How the MCP server works

One inbox for 7 platforms

DMs, comments and mentions from Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, TikTok, YouTube, X and Threads in one list, on every seat. Later's inbox starts on Growth and covers DMs on Instagram and Facebook. See the inbox

Repost automations

Post on one platform and let an automation repost it to the others on your schedule, for example your Instagram Reels to TikTok, one a day at 9:00 AM. Automations can also bring in your older posts from 8 platforms. See automations

Approvals for teams and clients

Add approval steps per workspace, so a teammate or client signs off before a post goes live. Reviewers comment, request changes or approve, and roles decide who can post, reply or see analytics. See collaboration

For developers

Later has no public API. OmniSocials is built on one.

Post, reply and read analytics on 12 platforms from your own code or your AI agent. Every seat includes the REST API, the MCP server, the SDKs and webhooks, also during the trial.

Frequently asked questions

Is OmniSocials a good alternative to Later?

Yes, if you post beyond Instagram or want an AI agent to do the work. OmniSocials schedules to 12 platforms, including X, Bluesky, Mastodon, Google Business and Telegram, has no monthly post cap, and includes the inbox, approvals, an MCP server and a REST API in every seat.

Later is the better fit if you plan your Instagram feed on a visual grid, use Linkin.bio, post to Snapchat or run influencer campaigns.

Is Later still free?

Not on its pricing page. Later's paid plans start at $18.75 a month billed yearly, or $25 billed monthly, after a 14-day trial (later.com/pricing, October 17, 2026). Its help center describes a limited free plan for creators: 12 posts per profile a month, one social set, no analytics, no AI credits and no Instagram carousels or Stories.

OmniSocials has no free plan. It starts with a 14-day trial, then costs $10 per seat a month billed yearly.

How much does Later cost a month?

Billed yearly: Starter $18.75, Growth $37.50 and Scale $82.50 a month. Billed monthly: $25, $50 and $110. Starter covers 1 social set and 1 user, Growth 2 sets and 2 users, Scale 6 sets and 4 users. On Growth and Scale an extra social set costs $11.25 a month and an extra user $3.75, billed yearly (checked October 17, 2026).

Does Later limit how many posts I can schedule?

Yes. Starter allows 30 posts per social profile a month and Growth 180; Scale has no cap. Later counts a post when you schedule it.

OmniSocials has no monthly post cap on any seat. X posts that contain a link use pass-through credits, because X charges for them.

Does Later support X (Twitter), Bluesky or Mastodon?

No. Later ended X support on August 28, 2025, and it does not support Bluesky, Mastodon or Google Business Profile. Its social set covers Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, Pinterest, LinkedIn, YouTube, Threads and Snapchat.

OmniSocials supports all of them except Snapchat: Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn (Profile and Page), X, Threads, TikTok, YouTube, Pinterest, Bluesky, Mastodon, Google Business and Telegram.

Does Later have an API?

Later does not offer a public API for scheduling posts, and it lists Zapier as unsupported (checked October 17, 2026). OmniSocials has a REST API at api.omnisocials.com, an MCP server with 56 tools for Claude, ChatGPT and other agents, SDKs in 8 languages, a CLI and 5 webhook events, in every seat and during the trial.

What are the best alternatives to Later?

It depends on why you are leaving. OmniSocials if you post beyond Instagram and want an AI agent or an API. Buffer for a free plan and simple queues. Planoly for a visual Instagram grid like Later's. Metricool for analytics and competitor tracking. Hootsuite for large teams that need social listening. SocialBee for recycling evergreen content.

Which is better, Later or Buffer?

It depends on where you post. Buffer has a free plan, supports X and Bluesky and prices per channel. Later has a visual Instagram grid planner and Linkin.bio, and no X. OmniSocials puts X, Bluesky and Instagram in one calendar, with an AI agent and an API in every seat, priced per brand instead of per channel.

Can I move my scheduled posts from Later to OmniSocials?

There is no automatic import from Later. Connect your accounts, then paste your upcoming posts into the composer or give the list to your AI agent, which schedules them through the MCP server. Keep Later until your queue is live in OmniSocials, then cancel it before the renewal date.

Does OmniSocials have a link in bio page or a grid planner?

Not today. OmniSocials has a week and month calendar with drafts and previews for each platform, but no Instagram grid view and no link in bio page. If those two are the core of your workflow, Later fits better.

How much does OmniSocials cost?

One plan with every feature: $10 per seat a month billed yearly, or $12 billed monthly. Each workspace (one brand) and each teammate or client is a seat. Every account starts with a 14-day free trial; a credit card is required and the first charge comes when the trial ends.
