The short answer

No length limit. Files: 2 GB, 4 GB with Premium, 50 MB for bots.

Telegram limits videos by file size, not by length. In the app a file can be up to 2 GB, or 4 GB with Telegram Premium. A long video at high quality reaches the size limit first.

Bots can upload videos and GIFs of up to 50 MB and photos of up to 10 MB, and schedulers, OmniSocials included, post through a bot. Round video messages run up to 1 minute. Telegram's apps play MPEG4 video in the chat; other formats may arrive as a file to download.

What changed

What changed for Telegram video. Covers, live photos, re-encoding.

  1. Mar 2026

    Live photos in all apps

Telegram added live and motion photos in all apps. Bots can send them since May 2026, with a video part of up to 10 seconds. Source

  2. Feb 2025

    Video covers and start times

Videos can carry their own cover image and a start timestamp, also in albums. Source

  3. Dec 2024

    Big channels re-encode videos first

A video sent to a group or channel with a large audience can wait on the server until Telegram has re-encoded it, so it may appear a little later. Source

Tips

Get your video onto Telegram. Mind the size, not the length.

  1. Watch the file size, not the length

Telegram sets no length limit. A long video at a high bitrate hits 50 MB or 2 GB long before any length matters.

  2. Fit scheduled videos in 50 MB

Schedulers post through a bot, and bots upload up to 50 MB. Export at a lower bitrate or resolution to fit.

  3. Export as MP4

Telegram's apps play MPEG4 video in the chat. Other formats may arrive as a file to download instead of a player.

  4. Post very large files from the app

Files of up to 2 GB, or 4 GB with Premium, go up from the Telegram app. Use it for full-length recordings.

  5. Give big channels a moment

In channels and groups with a large audience, Telegram re-encodes a video before it shows. Schedule a little ahead of a deadline.

  6. Mix photos and videos in one album

An album holds up to 10 photos and videos. Each file keeps its own size limit.

How we built this guide. Checked on October 17, 2026.

The limits come from the Telegram FAQ, the Telegram Bot API and its changelog, Telegram's client configuration and sticker docs, and the Telegram blog, read on October 17, 2026. Telegram publishes size limits but no length limit for regular videos, and no best length, so the page shows none. Schedulers post through the Bot API, so its 50 MB limit is the one a scheduled video must fit.
