In June 2025 Facebook renamed the Videos tab to Reels and began sharing every new video as a reel. Meta's Business Help Center says reels can be any length or orientation: "There is no minimum or maximum length requirement."
Tools that publish through Meta's Reels API work to tighter rules: 3 to 90 seconds, vertical 9:16, and no more than 30 reels a day. Page Stories take videos of up to 60 seconds through the API, and a Live stream runs up to 8 hours.
The Videos tab became the Reels tab. All new videos are shared as reels, with no minimum or maximum length. Source
Facebook sets no length limit on reels. Make it as long as the story needs and no longer.
Every video is a reel now. 1080 × 1920 fills the screen, and the Reels API needs at least 540 × 960.
Tools that use Meta's Reels API stop at 90 seconds. Longer videos go through the Video API instead.
Page Stories take videos of up to 60 seconds through the API, and they disappear after 24 hours.
Live stops at 8 hours. For longer events, plan two or more streams.
A Page can publish 30 reels a day through the API. Most Pages need far fewer, spaced out.
The limits come from Meta's Business Help Center, Facebook's Help Center and Meta for Developers, read on October 17, 2026. Facebook gives no ideal length, and we found no 2026 study with a published method, so the page gives none.
