The short answer

Videos: up to 15 minutes and 5 GB. Ads: 30 minutes. Live: 4 hours.

LinkedIn's Help Center lists video posts from 3 seconds (2 seconds from the mobile app) to 15 minutes, 75 KB to 5 GB, in any shape from 1:2.4 tall to 2.4:1 wide. An older Help Center page for Page and Career Page videos still says 10 minutes.

Scheduled videos go through LinkedIn's Videos API, whose spec lists 3 seconds to 30 minutes, MP4 only and up to 500 MB, though one of its upload fields allows 5 GB. LinkedIn publishes no ideal length for posts; for ads it recommends 15 to 30 seconds.

What changed

What changed for video. More video, less reach per video.

    Live must be scheduled

Since June 22, 2026, you cannot go live on the spot. Every LinkedIn Live is scheduled as an event first, even minutes ahead. Source

    Video use outpaced results

Tips

Pick the right length. Short to start, long when it earns it.

  1. Keep Page videos under 10 minutes

LinkedIn's Page video page still says 10 minutes while the general page says 15. Under 10 fits both, and every scheduler.

  2. Export MP4 under 500 MB

The app takes 5 GB, but the API's spec says MP4 up to 500 MB. A 1080p MP4 of a few minutes fits easily.

  3. Start short for ads

LinkedIn recommends 15 to 30 seconds so an ad qualifies for every placement. Ads under 30 seconds loop until 30 seconds have played.

  4. Shoot vertical or square

Any shape from 1:2.4 to 2.4:1 works. LinkedIn's mobile app has a full-screen vertical video feed, and 1080 × 1920 fills it.

  5. Keep text off the edges

LinkedIn's buttons and labels cover the edges of a video. Keep text and logos away from the top, bottom and sides.

  6. Plan Lives as events

Live runs up to 4 hours, and LinkedIn suggests at least 10 minutes to gather an audience. Schedule the event ahead and promote it.

How we built this guide. Checked on October 17, 2026.

The limits come from LinkedIn's Help Center, its ad specifications and Microsoft's LinkedIn API reference, read on October 17, 2026. Where LinkedIn's own pages disagree (10 or 15 minutes, 500 MB or 5 GB), the page shows both and the safe choice. LinkedIn publishes no ideal length for organic video, so the ruler marks no sweet spot.
