The short answer

Posts at 1080 × 1350, covers at 851 × 315, profile pictures at 320 × 320.

Facebook publishes no feed photo size, but Meta's own feed ads use 4:5 at 1440 × 1800, and 1080 × 1350 is the common upload size for that shape. Facebook recommends photos under 15 MB and resizes every upload to several sizes. Square 1080 × 1080 posts work too.

For your Page, Facebook's Help Center gives exact numbers: the profile picture should be 320 × 320 and is cropped to a circle, and the cover must be at least 400 × 150 and loads fastest as an 851 × 315 JPG under 100 KB. Stories and Reels are vertical 1080 × 1920.

What changed

What changed for Facebook visuals. Video went vertical-first.

  1. Jun 2025

    Every video is a reel

The Videos tab became the Reels tab, and every new video is shared as a reel, of any length or orientation. Vertical 1080 × 1920 fits Reels best. Source

Tips

Size it once, post it everywhere. Six rules for Facebook.

  1. Default to 4:5 for photos

1080 × 1350 takes more of the feed than a square, and it is the shape Meta's own feed ads use.

  2. Keep files small

Facebook recommends photos under 15 MB, and through the API a photo can be up to 10 MB. Keep PNGs under 1 MB.

  3. Upload the cover at 851 × 315

Facebook says an sRGB JPG of that size under 100 KB loads fastest. Keep text away from the edges.

  4. Center the profile picture

It is cropped to a circle and overlaps the cover by about 40 px on phones.

  5. Shoot video vertical

Every video is a reel now. 1080 × 1920 fills the screen, and the API needs at least 540 × 960.

  6. Choose your own link image

Facebook lets a Page pick its own link preview image. Use 1200 × 630 so it is not cropped.
