TikTok video and photo sizes and aspect ratios for 2026

1080 × 1920 (9:16) fills the screen, for videos and photo posts alike. Horizontal 1920 × 1080 works too, in full screen mode. What TikTok warns against is blurred bars around a small picture.

The short answer

Use 1080 × 1920 (9:16). It fills the screen in the app and through every scheduler.

TikTok's own guide says to "crop to a full-screen 9:16 vertical frame", which is 1080 × 1920 pixels. Horizontal video is fine too, because viewers can tap Full screen. TikTok's warning is about blurred or black bars that shrink your subject into a small box.

Schedulers, OmniSocials included, post through TikTok's Content Posting API. It takes videos of 360 to 4,096 px a side and photos as JPEG or WebP up to 1080p and 20 MB, with up to 35 photos per post. TikTok's Creator Rewards Program asks for 1080p or higher.

Tips

Size it once, post it anywhere. Six rules that cover most posts.

  1. Default to 1080 × 1920

It fills the screen, fits TikTok's API, and meets the 1080p the Creator Rewards Program asks for.

  2. Fill the frame, skip the bars

TikTok says blurred bars shrink your subject into a small box. Crop in so the subject fills the screen.

  3. Keep the subject centered

TikTok's advice: keep your image centered and not covered by any buttons on the screen.

  4. Keep photos at 1080p or less

Through the API, photos go up to 1080p. OmniSocials resizes larger photos for you.

  5. Use JPEG or WebP for photos

TikTok's API takes only these two formats. OmniSocials converts PNG to JPEG before it posts.

  6. Pick the cover frame

Through a scheduler, the cover is a frame from the video. Pick a moment that reads well as a thumbnail.

Every size on this page comes from TikTok's Creator Academy, Help Center or Content Posting API, read on October 17, 2026. TikTok publishes no size for photo posts or a recommended profile photo, so the page labels the commonly used figures. TikTok's ad help center offers safe-zone overlay files but no pixel numbers, so the page gives none.
